It’s where I put my words and anything I’d like to keep in mind

Boston, Summer 2009

My little angel embraces my soul
Whenever I ask her about love,
She always says it’s all around me

My little angel caresses my face
When the rays of morning sun comes
She lets me know that here and there,
I am in the embrace of the Almighty

The love of the Absolute Love
The light of the Absolute Light
Then I shouldn’t be in fear nor feeling lonely

My angel took my hands and leads me to fly
then I see:
all the ground that I walk on is my hometown
all the places where life brings me to settle in is my home

I was born as a wanderer,
then my happiness is hidden at the secrecy of the places that I would see
If it means that I have to travel the world for eternity
Then let it be… -AW

Four season. Summer to summer. I am halfway done.

I am still struggling but I am also enjoying. I miss all the things that I left but I also know I’m gonna miss all the things in here.

This period of my life that I thought would teach me to be smarter but, when I think of it, taught me more to be stronger.

For what it’s worth… I am thankful.

I can now call Boston home.

“No cloud lasts for ever; neither is there such a thing as eternal sun-shine. From the darkest night the most beautiful morning is born and here I console myself. Human life is a true reflection of the life of nature.”

The Mapparium

Isn’t summer break fun?! :D

You can go around and around time limitless, you can read whatever unrelated to subject books you want to read without any guilt, and you can blog as often as you may :D

Boston attraction is such a precious bonus to me. Bonus? Yes. Because it wasn’t the main reason why I choose Boston as a place to further my study. I just  knew it has many good universities, good libraries and resources for my study, and it is filled with international student from all over the world. I didn’t expect that it will also be darn beautiful and historical, it is the birth place of America’s independence. In many ways, somehow, it reminds me of Yogyakarta :)

One of the most famous tourist attraction in Boston is the Mapparium, a three-story, stained-glass globe built in 1935, designed by Boston architect Chester Lindsay Churchill, where by standing at the bridge inside it you can have an inside view of the world. The Mapparium is sheltered inside the ‘Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity’. Read the rest of this entry »

Charlie on The M.T.A

I was always wondering why the ticket and the card of the MBTA was named Charlie Card/Charlie Ticket. I’ve been using it for the last 10 months and I love it. I love the public transportation in Massachusetts.

The question remained unanswered until a few days ago. I was going back home from walking around enjoying Boston and it’s beautiful building. At the symphony station, which I didn’t visit a lot, I wait for quite a long time. I’m bored and I didn’t bring any book so I just look around. I read anything that I can read. There are advertising, fare schedule, map, MBTA regulation….and…there it was..the story of Charlie. Read the rest of this entry »

The Freedom Trail is not a building, it is a red (mostly brick) path through downtown Boston, Massachusetts that leads to 16 significant historic sites. The Freedom Trail was originally conceived in 1958 by local journalist William Schofield who was promoting the idea of linking important local landmarks with a pedestrian trail since 1951.

The buildings in this series are included on the official trail sites of Freedom Trail.  It is a 2.5 mile (4 km) walk from the Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown and is popular with tourists. Read the rest of this entry »
